Inheriting the tradition of Moscow conceptual school, Valeria Nibiru creates total installations which include puppets and monumental wall paintings, as well as delicate works on paper or narrative albums of small format. Following the concept of “psychedelic realism” suggested by Pavel Pepperstein, works of Lera Nibiru can remind childish dreams but at the same time reproduce images from deep sensual phantasms. Curator and critic Dr. Olesya Turkina described Nibiru’s works’ themes as “.…the borderline state, the ecstasy, the transition from the terrifying to the sublime, the art emerging from the foreboding.”

In 2017 Nibiru’s project “Kromkhel’s Journey to the Seventh Heaven” became a base for an opera, written by composer Nikolay Sudnik. Lera Nibiru is author of the libretto.

Valeria Nibiru was born 1981 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, where she lives and works. She graduated from Saint-Petersburg University of
